Short description
This CLEP workshop aims to improve the vocational skills of customs officers working as dog handlers and their detection dogs specialising in cash detection, and to exchange the practical experience in the field of use and training of detection dogs to search for cash.

Description
The workshop aims at sharing know-how and expertise among the participants during plenary sessions that are based on the host administration's training programme focusing on:
- questions and answers regarding the currently applicable legislation for conducting cash controls (+ Regulation (EU) 2024/1624),
- introduction to procedures applied by the host administration as well as risk analysis tools used,
- discussion on training methods and practical issues linked with the search in cash.
- on-the-spot work with service dogs under trainers' supervision at the WCO Regional Canine Training Centre in Heřmanice (training samples of different currencies - CZK, USD, EUR, ILS)
- on-site training and work with detection dogs in the real environment (international airport) under trainers’ supervision
- sharing of participants' own examples of best practices in cash retrieval (including case studies, various interceptions, etc.).
Profile of participants
Customs officers-dog handlers accompanied by their service dogs specializing in cash detection (preferably). Important note: dog handlers are ideally expectected to attend the workshop with their service dog(s) (banknote retrieval category), yet in exceptional cases a dog handler specialising in banknote retrieval may attend without their service dog.
