Description
Latvian centre of expertice "Train search" has a successful experience in the field of customs control of incoming and outgoing freight trains.
The Latvian Customs Administration offers to organize a 3-day training session to share both theoretical and practical knowledge and good practices in the field of physical inspection of freight trains with customs officers from other EU countries. The freight train search training session had already been delivered in 2022 and 2023. The event was very well appreciated and evaluated by the participants and its national administrations.
The objective of this CLEP event is to improve the professional and technical skills and professional competencies of Customs Officers performing customs controls at the external railway border of the EU. This includes the application of risk management methods and IT applications, as well as the documentary and the physical checks.

During this training the best practices, experience and specific cases may also be shared amongst the participants. In this event will participate trainers from Latvia and Lithuania.

Profile of participants
Priority: The program prioritizes participation from EU member states and EU candidate countries customs officers with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
Alternative: In the event of insufficient EU member state participants, the program may welcome customs officers from third countries associated with the EU Customs program.
Participant Profile: Ideal candidates will possess:
Current employment: As a customs officer within an EU member state or a EU Customs program-associated third country.
Work experience: A minimum of one year of experience in customs operations.
Training experience (optional): Experience in preparing and delivering training programs at the national level is a plus.
Basic Knowledge: All participants should possess a fundamental understanding of freight train inspection procedures.
