The eLearning course The “Taxes in Europe” Database - TEDB is based on the VAT eCommerce package and produced by the European Commission Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (TAXUD) under the FISCALIS Programme.

Course description

This course is part of the VAT e-Commerce e-Learning programme and guides you through all the functionalities of the “Taxes in Europe” Database (TEDB) that covers all main taxes in revenue terms, including personal income taxes, corporate income taxes, value added taxes, EU harmonised excise duties, the main social security contributions and other important taxes yielding at least 0.1% of GDP. It contains information on around 650 taxes, as provided to the European Commission by the Ministries of Finance of the EU Member States. The access is free for all users.

Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to understand the main functionalities and the benefits that the use of the database brings to the users.

Target audience

Economic operators, tax officials and the general public interested in taxation.

The learning objectives of this module are: 

  •  Explain what the TEDB is; 
  •  Explain in detail how the database works and how to use it for optimal results; 
  •  Explain the benefits of the database.
